Ski/Snowboard Goggles
The right snowboard goggles ensure a good and safe experience on the slopes. Good snowboard goggles allow you to see all the details in your surroundings. In addition, you can see where you are going and your eyes are protected from wind and sun.
Types of lenses
Within the lenses of snowboard goggles, there are two categories, cylindrical lenses and spherical lenses. A cylindrical lens is horizontally curved and rather cheaper. A spherical lens is curved both horizontally and vertically. These convex lenses tend to be more expensive but provide wider and sharper vision with less distortion.
VLT
Not every lens is suitable for all weather conditions. Lenses for snowboard goggles are divided by light transmission. This is shown in VLT (Visual Light Transmission)
3-8%: suitable for very sunny days, earlier towards the end of the season.
9-18%: suitable for sunny, semi-cloudy weather conditions.
19-43%: suitable for changeable weather conditions and thus the most versatile option.
44-80%: suitable for snowy, cloudy weather conditions
81-100%: suitable for foggy weather conditions or evenings and nights
